Presidential Message

As Hand Surgeons and Therapists, we are privileged to be able to attend conferences locally, nationally and internationally. We choose particular conferences, because we cannot go to all, on the basis of the scientific, social and cultural aspects.

I have recently been in Indonesian planning, with Dr. Erwin Ramawan and his committee, the APFSSH for the October 2012 meeting. Having been a participant in the first IFSSH meeting in Rotterdam in 1980 and the first APFSSH and APFSSH Therapy meeting in Perth in 1997, I can assure you that this meeting in Bali will be enjoyable and as memorable as any that you have previously experienced.

Bali, the world famous Island of the Gods, provides the perfect combination of gorgeous tropical gardens and beach landscapes, an exotic, preserved and unique culture, together with Balinese cuisine will certainly make the APFSSH and APFSSH Therapy an unforgettable event.

Message from Chairman of the Organizing Committee

Colleagues and friends,

It is truly an honor that Bali, Indonesia is chosen to host the upcoming “The 9th Congress of Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (APFSSH) in Conjunction with The 5th Congress of the Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Hand Therapist (APFSHT)” to be held on 10 – 13 October 2012 at Grand Hyatt, Bali, Indonesia.

We certainly hope that all of you will provide your best expertise : your experiences, opinions and share of skills and knowledge are welcome. Recent updates on hand surgery and hand therapy management will be elaborated and transformed to daily clinical practices. We would like to also encourage all of you to submit abstract(s) for podium and poster presentation.

Aside from that, we also deliberately allocate sessions for all Hand Surgery and Hand Therapy societies to actively contribute by sharing experiences from their country.

Colleagues and friends, we are certainly not forgetting to make this important meeting memorable, not only for you but also for your family traveling with you.

Bali alone is one of the most attractive places on earth. Magnificent place combined with attractive tour programs, spectacular cultural performances, great meals and the hospitality of the Balinese will certainly make the 9th APFSSH in conjunction with the 5th APFSHT hard to forget.

Please also remember that Indonesia has granted Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility to 64 countries. Denpasar, Ngurah Rai International Airport is the destination of almost all major International airlines.

Now, make sure you book the date of 10 -13 October 2012 and see you soon in Bali.
